That's so neat! I was wondering how close you were to Obama and how far back the line of people went. Did Obama come out and shake people's hands?

Hi! How was the over all experience? On the TV you could clearly see that there were about a billion people there. Was it overwhelming at all? Or was it fun? Or both? and what was it like being there by yourself? or...did you go with someone?

Amina Madhwala
1/20/2009 11:52:44 am

Hi! Thats really cool that you got to go to this historical event. So how was it overall? Did you get a good view because i saw on tv that there were a lot of people. And did you meet any famous or important people while you were there?

Anu Kumar

Hello!
You are so incredibly lucky that you got to go. I got teary eyed simply watching him speak on television.

Lizzy Yorka

So,
-Were there a lot of people there that didn't support Obama?
-Did Obama fall at all (cuz I definitely probably would have)?
-Did you see any other like, famous-ish people there?
-Did you eat any good food?
(Lizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy)

How many people were in attendance?

Kyle

Kelsey Fisher

Ah! Your so lucky. It's not often that you can actually attend and take part of something as historical as this! So how was it? Where were you during the inauguration. Did you ever see Obama up close!? What was your favorite part, and who did you go there with!? I can't wait to hear all about your trip, it truly was a once in a lifetime experience i bet!

I hope you got into the ceremony because a lot of people with tickets did not get in. You are so lucky to have been there;I wish I was. Did you bump into any famous people? How many were permitted into the ceremony?

P.S- I shook the presidents hand! Back when he was the senator of Illinois at a Cougars game. While everyone else was getting the autographs from the baseball players, I went straight to Obama to meet and get his autograph(i'm not much of a baseball fan). I just thought i'd share my amazing story with you.

John Ghassan
1/20/2009 02:05:27 pm

hey Mrs. Johnson!
How many people were aloud into the ceremony?
How many security guards were present?
How far away were you from the President?

P.S- ask me about my Obama story sometime. its a good one

Ian Lojewski
1/20/2009 02:25:53 pm

Hello Mrs. Johnson!
I was wondering, did you go to the parade too? And if so did you see the president and did he wave to you? Have a great rest of the trip and flight home!

Ian Lojewski

Hannah Hunt
1/20/2009 02:28:45 pm

Dear Mrs. Johnson,
How far away was the president from you? How chaotic was entering and leaving the ceremony?

Andy Goldberg
1/20/2009 10:17:35 pm

How close were you able to get to Obama?
Was it hard to see/hear with the massive, shouting crowd?

Anne Harris
1/21/2009 01:56:53 am

How did it feel to be right there while history was being made?
One day, when this is printed in history books, you'll be able to say to people, "Hey, man. I was there!"
Haha.
I watched it on TV and was mesmerized by that speech...in person must have been unbelievable.

Mrs. Johnson,

I was very impressed by Obama's inaugural speech, it is even more meaningful that he wrote it personally. Where were you sitting in relation to the stage? and were you able to make it into any inaugural balls?

Drew

Dylan Despot
1/21/2009 07:14:34 am

Hey Mrs. Johnson! It's Dylan Despot and I hoped that you enjoyed the Inauguration.

I found it very interesting and I payed very close attention to it. Now besides Aretha Fanklin's hat, my favorite part of the Inauguration was Barack Obama saying to the Terrorists "We will defeat you."

This came across as very powerful and unified the country as a whole. What was the most interesting, and your favorite part?

Alex Matos
1/21/2009 09:36:00 am

Hey Mrs. Johnson! How was the Inaugaration? I bet it was awesome being there... Did your face get all tingly when he speaks? Mine does becase it's a powerful person and a revolutionary event. I tried to watch it in lunch but you know it's crazy in there. I can't wait to vote for him again in 2012!

Meredith O'Neill
1/21/2009 09:43:37 am

Hey Mrs. Johnson.

Sadly i did not see you on TV, but Obama's speech was really really good! Where were you standing? There were so many people it was insane! Like could you actually see him or was he just a blob?

Jeff Hosmer
1/21/2009 11:05:08 am

Yo i was wondering if how tight security was there and how close normal attendees got to obama and his family?

Dennis Piehl
1/21/2009 02:13:03 pm

Hey Mrs. Johnson that's really awesome that you got to attend this! I got to watch it on cnn.com which is almost just as good. Anyway, since everyone else took all of the obvious questions, I would like to know how the ride there and back was. Oh and thx for the extra credit btw!

Dan Walker
1/22/2009 05:15:47 am

Mrs. Johnson,

After experiencing the chaos and lack of preparation (like you said with the "hearding" of people and far walks) of this inauguration, do you think that you would ever go back to see another one?

Dan Walker

Matthew Nied
1/22/2009 06:58:44 am

After being at the inauguration, what could you pull out of it as being the best thing you experienced?

Matt Jachimiec
1/22/2009 09:02:02 am

Hey Mrs. Johnson!

You're so lucky to have witnessed such a historic event. From everything you were describing to our class I wish I could've been there too! Now, although I feel great about Obama's rise to the presidency, a lot of people I know feel that Obama will be "just another president." What would you say to those people, especially after having been immersed in his inauguration and all the festivities surrounding it?

Matt

Nina Chang
1/22/2009 10:06:27 am

Hey! You are so incredibly lucky you got to see such an event! Were you able to get into the neighborhood ball?

Alana Moore
1/22/2009 11:27:19 am

So lucky! What was the crowd's reaction to the part when he said "when blacks dont go back, where browns can hang around, where yellows can be mellow..."?

Sai Nettem
1/22/2009 11:29:34 am

How did it feel and what was it like hearing Barack Obama's inauguration speech?

Parth Kapadia
1/22/2009 11:45:00 am

Hey Mrs. Johnson, I saw that the inauguration nearly cost 200 million dollars. I was wondering who funds for everything? Taking in account how much debt our country is in, do you think it is okay that we are spending this much on an inauguration?

Abhijit Joshi
1/22/2009 12:09:38 pm

How was the overall experience? Where exactly were you standing while his speech. Did you get a chance to go to one of the balls?

Nichole Gruneisen
1/22/2009 01:11:22 pm

Hi Mrs. Johnson, if you had the opportunity to change one thing that occured during the inauguration either in regards to the crowds, security, how things were announced...etc, what would you change and why?

-Nichole Gruneisen

Hi Mrs. Johnson

After all your stories from D.C. I couldn't help but be jealous of you. You told us that President Obama was a big proponent of education, what sort of educational changes do you foresee in the future, or would like to see?

Hannah Maloney
1/22/2009 01:48:06 pm

Mrs. Johnson,

I was wondering what moves you would teach Obama so that his dancing seemed less...awkward. :) Could you please demonstrate these for the class???

Hey Mrs. Johnson it's really cool that you went to go see the inauguration but my question is that Obama mentioned many issues in his speech but what do u think is the most importhant issue?

Ryan Conrad
1/22/2009 02:53:55 pm

Hey Mrs. Johnson, i can only think of one question right now... now that you have experienced going to D.C. and have seen the inauguration is there anything you would have done differently?

Michael Lyons
1/22/2009 03:35:58 pm

Hey Mrs. Johnson! I just wanted to let you know that you were extremely inspiring today. I took what you said to heart.

So, did you make any attempt to fight your way to the front of the crowd? you seem like someone who would do that...

Sam Kowalski
1/22/2009 10:11:28 pm

Hey Mrs. Johnson,

I enjoyed your story you shared with us yesterday and I remember you mentioning a large clear protective screen in front of Obama while on the Inauguration Platform. Was there more than the protective glass that surrounded the front of the podium where he stood for his speech?

Kash Raza
1/24/2009 06:58:04 am

Hey Mrs.Johnson,

I'm so glad you had the chance to share your experiences with our class on Thursday! You have no idea how much of what you said inspired so many of us. I'm so glad I had the chance to experience a little bit of what you went through, though all the stories you told us. I just have one question...although there were already sooo many people at the inauguration do you think the weather stopped even more people from coming or do you think the weather had no effect?
