Dear Students/Parents,
I echo the words from our Superintendent, Karen Sullivan, "Educators are planners. We prepare for everything. We plan for contingencies. We have contingency plans for our contingency plans. However, none of us could possibly have been prepared for what happened this past week with the unprecedented closure of schools across the state." With that, I will do my best to keep the lines of communication open as we journey through the next, several weeks.
Please go to your class' tab for the latest information for your specific class. If more, time-sensitive information needs to be pushed out, I will send that out to you via your school email.
Regards,
Natalie Johnson, Ph.D.

MVHS' Math Department Goal for 2019-2020: to increase student engagement/achievement through the purposeful use of formative assessment/feedback
Hello Students and Parents,
I am Dr. Natalie Johnson and have been in District 204 (D204) for nearly 20 years- ten at Waubonsie Valley and the remainder at Metea Valley. I have been teaching math for nearly 30 years and this school year, I am teaching Honors Precalculus and Calculus.
My two sons are successful products of D204 – graduates of Steck, Granger, and Waubonsie Valley and are both college graduates who are gainfully employed.
The best way to reach me is via email, and I usually respond within two business days. I am generally available for help before school on Mondays and Wednesdays arriving between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. in our regular classroom meeting place. Math resource is a daily option for help every lunch period. Mobile ready and available to help streamline communication, my classroom website is www.mrsnjohnson.com. As in years past, a weekly agenda will be prominently displayed at the start of each week inside the classroom so that students are aware of our weekly plan. The classroom website consists of the entire year's textbook (homework) and/or worksheet assignments for students who wish to work ahead. Because I am more interested in seeing students' critical thinking skills expressed on paper, homework completion is essential for success. A 5-subject notebook (college rule) is strongly recommended for my class.
I am super excited to work with the students this year. Let’s start strong and finish strong! Here’s to an AMAZING and successful school year!
