College Test Prep

Welcome to College Test Prep: Metea Literacy

New Beginnings:

CTP - ML Class of 2013-14:  Our year has ended.  What a journey for all of us!  I have watched you grow in a number of ways:  maturity, intellectually, academically and personally.  I trust that you will apply the experiences that you had in this class to your future academic courses.  As well, my hope for each of you is that you will apply the academic and life lessons learned over the year to each of your lives individually so that you continue to grow and contribute in a positive fashion to all those who you encounter.  Continue to let your great lights shine so that others will see and utilize your light in their own lives.  See you next year!  Have a productive summer:  read, read and then read some more!  Remember that knowledge is power and it is often found in a book.

We will begin first semester with math enrichment, reading goals, setting academic priorities, learning how to advocate for ourselves and being empowered and accountable for our own successes!  We have many activities planned including:  attending the UIC College Fair on October 11, 2014, partnering with various colleges and universities including college tours, partnering with local businesses where we may participate in internships and partnering with NBA-Hoops to incorporate STEM and Common Core Standards into learning!  We will learn how to create our personal college readiness portfolios and participate in workshops such as building interviewing skills and business etiquette.  There is much to accomplish and we will work hard and persevere until all of our goals are met.

Click here for more information regarding the College Fair!

Should you invest in a graphing calculator?

Picture
Yes, you need to purchase a graphing calculator for this class and beyond (geometry-calculus), preferably a TI-83+ or TI-84+.  Besides, it will help in your regular math class as well.
