Welcome to Algebra 2 Essentials
New Beginnings:
Algebra 2 Essentials 2016-17: There are several sections of this course taught by a team of MV teachers who will maintain consistency in topics covered. This course is a continuation in the sequence for students who previously took Algebra 1 and were placed in it via teacher recommendation/placement. It is a full year course where the 2012 Common Core Algebra Book is used as a reference guide.
Semester 1 concepts include:
Math vocabulary, equations of lines and intercepts, real-life concept and application problems, graphing polynomials, interpreting scatter plots, understanding slope, solving systems of equations, linear inequalities, linear programming, quadratic equations and their roots, transformations of graphs, square roots.
Semester 2 concepts include:
Math vocabulary, functions in general, function notation and rules, exponents, exponential growth and decay, logs, interest formulas, basic trigonometry, probability, and statistics.
